One evening I posted this on Facebook..."I would give my right arm for a bag of Funyons right now...then I'd eat them with my left."
An hour later my husband came in from work and told me to close my eyes and smell.
Never has he been sexier.
What could be better than 2 free tickets to see the Preds play?
A date with this handsome 9 year old who happens to be a huge fan.
While dad and mini-me were livin' it up downtown at the game, I decided to take these two to dinner.
Just the 3 of us.
It was weird...but in a good way.
I love that they instinctively sat next to each other in the booth.
And that they both covered their faces when I pulled my phone out.
Sheesh.
Like I'm whipping out cameras left and right every day or something.
I love most that they have each other.
And always will.
If you know me at all you know I avoid a doctor's office like the plague.
So the fact that I found myself...the week of Christmas...sitting in an Orthopedic waiting room of all places...should speak volumes about the pain I've been having in my wrist.
Honestly, I was worried they may mention that awful four lettter word...surgery.
Nope.
Just tendonitis.
Which kinda stinks because there is no quick fix for it.
Just time...and this lurvely accessory.
On the bright side, I may be bringing sexyback.
Found this in the stocking stuffer section at Target.
Suddenly, I was a pair of tight rolled Guess jeans, a denim Trapper Keeper, and a can of Rave hairspray away from 1988.
Found an extra game of Scrabble while cleaning out our game cabinet for Christmas.
Decided to make ornaments.
I must say they looked even cuter than I imagined hanging on the tree.
Our annual "S.M.U.T's and Spouses" Christmas Dinner.
Laughed till my jaws cramped.
And I nearly peed myself.
Which I'm finding gets easier and easier to do the older I get.
I declare I have the classiest 11 year old in all the land.
Homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter for the neighbors.
"White Chocolate Covered-Peanut Butter filled Ritz Cracker Cookies"
These cookies...Lord. have. mercy.
A tradition passed down from my Grandma Margaret.
When I get to Heaven I will be sure to thank her for the new jiggle in my thighs...and the extra 5 pounds I now need to lose.
Santa left this marvelous mustard-liscous chair for me.
Santa Baby...I love you.
Finally...I'm the owner of my very own Allora.
A "mini" in Pacific.
My ridiculously talented daughter painted this for me.
The picture does not do it justice.
It's a glorious shade of turquoise.
She has the gift of thoughtfulness. For sure.
Could there be a more perfect print for me?! ::channeling my best Chandler Bing::
My mom found a vintage gumball machine for me for Christmas.
I was so excited and surprised I almost cried.
I've been on the hunt for a couple of years but could never find one in good enough shape.
This one is like new {even though it's old} and looks fabulous in my kitchen.
It was a Teavana Christmas for Adam.
We've all been reaping the benefits.
Not that I had an ulterior motive.
If I did there would have been chocolate involved.
Best. Tea. Ever.
Got this book as a gift.
It sat on my lap for about 20 minutes the other night.
I'm terrified to even open it.
I know it is going to shake me to my core and I am selfishly trying to avoid that feeling you feel when God is trying to change the way you see things.
Just prolonging the inevitable I'm sure.
Call me Jonah. ::sticking fingers in ears...la la la la la::
Remind me not to be out at sea in the near future.
Decided to pay my laundry room a visit the day after Christmas.
It had been a while.
Seems it got sick and threw up while I was away.

Keeping Christmas Simple This Year {Tour of Homes}
Christmas.
I kept it simple this year.
It is where I am in my life right now.
Welcome.
I love my tree.
The only thing on it are lights and ornaments that have special meaning or memories attached to them.
Nothing decorative.
Simple.
My grandparents always had oranges and nuts laying around at Christmas.
I got this table on Craigslist for 75 bucks I think. I had seashells in it this summer.
I wasn't sure what I would do with it for Christmas.
Then I found the box full of our through the years Christmas pictures and I knew right away that I would take them out of the frames they were in, and display them in my table.
Love.
In the top left corner there is a picture of my husband on Santa's lap.
And to the right of that is yours truly...unwrapping gifts at the age of 3.
Under those is my now 15 year old.
::sigh::
Traditionally for my mantel I go with the typical reds, greens, and golds on a bed of balsam.
I had no idea what I wanted to do this year.
While drinking coffee one morning I noticed an old ladder outside in my yard and had an epiphany.
Paint it turquoise, put it on my mantel, and build around it.
In the end I felt it was exactly what I was going for.
Vintage.
Whimsy.
Natural.
Simple.
Ultimately, this is what it is all about.
The coming of the Messiah.
In our home it is tradition that baby Jesus arrives on Christmas morning.
For years I have walked past this scene without giving a second thought.
This year, I walk by this scene and I am overwhelmed with a flood of emotions.
The posture.
The reverence.
The waiting with hope.
Anticipation.
Longing to see a miracle.
Expecting He will come.
I am humbled...and I am left with...ouch.
Christmas....I'm keeping it simple this year...it is just where He has me in my life right now.

14 Elf on the Shelf Ideas {Need some?}
Twas the week before Christmas and all throughout the homestead..
Mom and dad were haunted by thoughts of "what the heck are we gonna do with this elf tonight?!?! racing around in their head.
--------------------------------------------------
Meet Buddy.
He came to live with us this year and he has been so much fun.
All day he watches our brood of three to see if their behavior has been bad or good...
Then while they are sleeping he reports back to the North Pole to fill Santa in on the deets.
No worries though...he is always back in time to greet them good morning.
Funny thing about Buddy...he seems to like a little mischief himself.
First night here and he managed to eat his way through a whole bag of my white chocolate truffles.
I seriously considered kicking Buddy to the curb for this.
But then I realized he had bigger eating issues than I do so I may want to keep him around to help me feel better about myself.
Buddy "rolled" our mini Christmas tree.
"We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup."
"Baby it's cooooold outsiiiiide."
Buddy was really missing the snow back home.
Who knew elves were so tech savvy?
Buddy "elf'd" the kids.
Wonder what he charges for a sitting fee?
Maggie went to a sleepover one night this week.
This is how we found Buddy the next morning.
Heartbroken.
Elf Art.
"Good job recovering my hat guys. I'll take it from here." ~Sheriff Woody
All I can say is that Rudolph isn't the only one that woke up with a red nose that day.
Red and Green Milk.
Buddy the Geography teacher.
Under the weather.
Buddy just couldn't resist antagonizing Woody with his hat.
Looks like it came down to a snowball fight.
